Application for Residency
Applications for residency are now being accepted in accordance with Community Rules. Applications will be accepted in the following order.
- Current Eliot ME Residents
- Former Eliot ME Residents
- Immediate relative of Eliot ME Residents
- Members of the general public
This is a 55 and over active adult retirement community. Pursuant to the requirements of the State and Federal laws (fair housing act: 5MRSA§4581.housing regulations of the Maine Human Rights Commission Section 8.07). Residency restrictions based on family status shall not apply to housing intended and operated for occupancy by at least one person 55 years of age or older, per unit. The community is intended to operate for such purposes; accordingly, at least 80% of the homes in the community shall be occupied by at least one person 55 years of age or older per unit, however it is the intention of community management for 100% of the homes to be occupied by at least one person 55 years of age or older. Any new occupant must be approved by the community managment and the community management shall refuse approval of a new occupant if to do so would place the community in violation of the aforementioned laws and regulations relating to housing for older persons, as they may be amended.
